Fight flakes at the source with our Anti-Dandruff Shampoo. This multi-benefit formula effectively addresses active dandruff, itching and irritation while re-balancing and nourishing your scalp to prevent future flakes.

Addressing more than just dandruff, it also:

  • Calms the Scalp: Green Algae Extract reduces inflammation and irritation that can cause itching and flaking while balancing the scalp’s microbiome.

  • Breaks Down Dead Skin: Salicylic Acid exfoliates away dead skin cells helping address dandruff and other scalp conditions that can lead to stubborn flakes, itching, and irritation.

  • Detoxifies and Removes Build-Up: Formulated with Charcoal to attract and clear out dead skin cells, excess oil, and daily grime. Spirulina helps to further clarify by helping prevent excess oil production.

Lightly fragranced with notes of Bergamot, Lavender, and Sandalwood.

Size: 8 Fl. Oz.

Rinse thoroughly.

  1. Salicylic Acid gently breaks down and clears away dead skin cells preventing flakes in your hair and on your shoulders.
  2. With continued use of Oars + Alps Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, the Salicylic Acid helps slough away accumulations of dead skin cells caused by fungal infections (e.g. malassezia), seborrheic dermatitis, and cold, dry weather.
  3. Green Algae Extract helps calm the scalp, and also promotes a healthy scalp microbiome, preventing the overgrowth of fungi such as malassezia that can lead to dandruff.
  4. At the molecular level, Activated Charcoal is negatively charged so it attracts dead skin cells, excess oil, and general grime and allows them to be washed away when you shampoo. Removing this build-up helps treat dandruff and prevent the scalp environment that causes it in the first place.
  5. A scalp that is stripped of hydration can actually exacerbate dandruff issues by prompting the scalp to produce even more oil to compensate. In this formula, Spirulina is added to combat this. It adds lightweight hydration to the scalp to help prevent the excess sebum production that can contribute to dandruff.
  6. This Sulfate-free dandruff shampoo is also free of Parabens and Phthalates.

Dandruff is a result of excess dry skin and oil built up on the scalp that can create flaking or create a fungal infection. Cold, dry weather is a common cause of dandruff. Overwashing hair and over-clarifying the scalp can cause dryness, which can sometimes exacerbate the condition and cause the scalp to create more oil.
Depending on your hair type and lifestyle, how often you should shampoo your hair can differ. If you have a very active lifestyle, it's important to shampoo your hair after you workout to ensure an excess amount of oil and sweat doesn’t clog the pores on your scalp, which could cause a fungal infection or dandruff.
Yes, while the symptoms are very similar, there are differences and different causes. Dandruff is most often caused by an overproduction of oil, whereas dry scalp is caused by a lack of moisture. Dandruff flakes will be larger in size, whereas a dry scalp will cause smaller, dryer flakes. If you suffer from dandruff, try the O + A dandruff shampoo and if you suffer from dry scalp, the O + A Hydrating Shampoo will be your best bet.
