FAQ

Yes, the O + A Aloe Wipes are made to be used on the skin. Antibacterial wipes for disinfecting surfaces are typically made with ingredients that would be irritating for your skin and could lead to redness, itchiness or swelling.
Some antibacterial wipes are made without alcohol and instead use an active ingredient like benzalkonium chloride. However, the CDC recommends that antibacterial products for the skin use at least 60% ethanol or 70% isopropanol as active ingredients. According to the CDC website, “available evidence indicates benzalkonium chloride has less reliable activity against certain bacteria and viruses than either of the alcohols.”
Aloe Vera does have antibacterial properties, but the active antibacterial ingredients recommended by the CDC for hand sanitizer are 60% (or higher) ethanol and 70% (or higher) isopropanol because of their effectiveness in killing bacteria and viruses. Aloe Vera may be used as an ingredient in hand sanitizer, or in this case antibacterial body wipes, primarily for its skin-moisturizing properties.
